Awesome Dog Training Tips That Anyone Can Use

That puppy is so cute and our little child will just love it for her birthday. Have you, or someone you know, ever said that and then you get home with the little fuzz ball and all the accoutrements and wonder what in the world now? Why, training of course. This article can give you a few tips for getting started.

When crate training a puppy, try to make your puppy feel like the crate is his home. When meal time comes, place the food bowl in the crate and keep the door open while the dog eats. This will give your dog a positive association with the crate.

When you are wanting to work on training you dog you should start of by making sure that he knows his name. At least 10 times a day use their name for things like playing, feeding and treats. Try not to use their name in a punishment so that way when something good happens they think of their name as a good thing, not bad.

When formally training your dog to complete specific skills like sitting or shaking hands on command, work with them in short slots of time interspersed throughout the day. Just as humans can grow bored or even angry when being required to complete one monotonous action after another, so can dogs.

Always keep fresh water available to your dog when he is being trained using a crate. One way to do this without making a mess is to furnish the crate with a rabbit water bottle. Just attach it to the outside of the crate with the tip sticking inside. Your dog will quickly learn to drink from it.

When tying up your dog, make sure it is not close to another chained dog. The leashes or chains can become intertwined, causing harm to one or more of the dogs. If two dogs’ chains become entangled, it is possible that one or both dogs could experience difficulty breathing or even strangulation.

Your breeder should begin socialization with your puppy, but it is up to you to continue it. It is important for a puppy to get used to people and the environment around him, but he will need to be protected from becoming too overwhelmed or scared. Your job is to encourage your puppy’s confidence as he goes out into the world.

You want to begin your dog training as early as possible, but not too early. You want to wait until the dog is at least 49 days old before you begin trying to train them. But after that, you’ll want to begin quickly so that your dog can learn while he’s still adapting to his environment, and you don’t have to undo behavior that he’s already learned.

Well, you have made it through the first several months, or even year, that you brought home that fuzz ball. Through trials and tribulations, praise and happiness, you and Fido have finally come to the realization that you are each in your forever home and you both know how to behave.
